Apps suit most people who move goods now and then, and anyone renting a truck for the first time. A stand can still work if you need a truck at once, already know the owners, or are moving goods from a market area where trucks wait in line.
Choose the right truck before you book
The two choices that matter most are size and body type. Size follows weight, and each of the common truck sizes in Bangladesh has a set payload. A 1 ton pickup suits a fridge, a few pieces of furniture or a bachelor move, a 3.5 ton, 14 ft truck suits a small flat, and the 15 ton and 25 ton trucks carry rice, cement or rods in bulk.
Body type follows the goods, and the main types of truck in Bangladesh suit different loads. An open truck is cheaper and easy to load, but goods are exposed to rain and dust. A covered van keeps furniture, electronics and garments dry and locked.
Choose by weight first. Dense goods such as rods, stone and cement reach a truck’s payload long before they fill the deck, and overloading can cost the driver a fine and licence points.
How to rent a truck on the Truck Lagbe app
Truck Lagbe’s shipper app is on Google Play, where it has more than 1 million downloads and was last updated in August 2026, according to its Google Play listing. An iPhone version is now on the App Store, and the Book button on trucklagbe.com opens a web booking page. Customer care is open 24 hours, according to the app listings.
- Download the app from the Truck Lagbe app page and sign up with your mobile number. You will get an SMS code to confirm it.
- Enter the pickup and drop-off points. If your exact location is not listed, choose the nearest one and add the details in the goods description.
- Choose the truck category and size, open or covered.
- Set the date and time for loading.
- Describe the goods and add any extras, such as labour or an up-down trip. Mention fragile items so the owner can plan for them.
- Check the details and publish the trip. You cannot change the pickup or drop-off after publishing; you would need to create a new trip.
- Compare the bids that truck owners send. Check that each bid is for the size and body type you asked for.
- Accept a bid, then call the owner to confirm the loading time and address.
- After delivery, rate the trip.
Fixed fare, express and up-down trips
Not every booking goes through bidding. A 1 ton open or covered pickup inside Dhaka has a fixed fare, which the app shows once you enter the route. For an urgent small load, an express trip books a half-ton pickup or mini truck right away; if no one responds, registered drivers may contact you within about 10 minutes, according to Truck Lagbe’s FAQ. An up-down option covers a round trip.
How to rent a truck from a truck stand
At a truck stand, trucks park while they wait for loads, and owners, drivers or agents agree the fare face to face. Large cities have several stands near markets, highway entry points and industrial areas. Many transport agencies near those stands also arrange trucks for a fee.
If you hire this way, ask to see the truck’s registration, fitness certificate and route permit, and the driver’s licence. Agree the fare, loading time, labour and who pays any waiting charge before loading starts, and get it in writing with the owner’s phone number. Without a platform in between, any dispute over damage, delay or price is between you and the owner.
How much does it cost to rent a truck in 2026?

Covered vans usually cost Tk 300 to Tk 500 more at the top of each range.
The chart was published before diesel rose from Tk 115 to Tk 135 a litre on 21 September 2026. The government has held fuel prices since, leaving them unchanged for November, the Dhaka Tribune reported. Truck owners set their own fares, though, and many raised them after the increase. Expect bids near the top of each range, or above it.

Payment, tolls and extra charges
On Truck Lagbe, most shippers pay the truck owner in cash at the end of the trip. The app’s August 2026 update added an advance payment option, called bayna, which Truck Lagbe says is meant to reduce cancellations, according to the App Store listing. Business accounts can pay after the trip.
Bridge and road tolls are included in the bid, according to Truck Lagbe’s FAQ, so confirm that with the owner before you accept. For reference, the Padma Bridge toll set in 2022 is Tk 1,200 for a pickup and Tk 1,600 to Tk 2,800 for trucks up to 11 tons, as TBS reported.
Extra costs to agree on in advance:
- Waiting time: when loading or unloading runs past six hours, Truck Lagbe’s rate chart adds Tk 300 to Tk 1,000 depending on truck size.
- Labour: loading and unloading workers are usually separate. Add labour when you book, or arrange your own.
- Packing: for a home or office move, Truck Lagbe’s shifting service quotes the truck, labour and packing together.
Rules that affect your booking
Large trucks cannot run inside Dhaka during the day. On Truck Lagbe, trucks longer than 12 ft can only be booked for trips inside the city after 10:00 PM, so a daytime city move is limited to pickups and 12 ft trucks.
Trucks are also kept off highways around the two Eids. In 2026, trucks, covered vans and lorries were barred from 17 to 23 March for Eid-ul-Fitr, as TBS reported, and on 25 to 27 May and 29 to 31 May for Eid-ul-Azha, according to the Financial Express. Essentials such as perishables, medicine, garments, fertiliser and fuel were exempt. Book early around holidays.
Overloading carries one of the heaviest traffic fines in Bangladesh: up to Tk 1 lakh for the driver, a year in prison and two of the 12 demerit points on the licence. At the Padma and Jamuna bridges, overloaded trucks are made to unload the excess before crossing.
Checklist before the truck arrives
- Pack the goods and keep them near the loading point.
- Tell the owner about stairs, a lift or a narrow lane, and whether the truck can reach the building.
- Note the truck’s registration number and the driver’s name and phone number.
- Agree the fare, labour, waiting charges and payment method.
- Take photos of valuable or fragile items before loading.
- Send someone with the goods, or share the driver’s number with whoever receives them.
Cancelling, delays and damage
Before a trip is active on Truck Lagbe, you can tell the owner, cancel the accepted bid and choose another. Once the trip is active, call customer care on +880 9638 000 245 to cancel. If a driver stops answering, wait, try again, then report it to the helpline and accept another bid.
Truck Lagbe verifies trucks through their documents, but it does not insure the goods yet, according to its FAQ. For high-value loads, ask a general insurer about inland transit cover for a single trip. Eastland Insurance, for example, covers goods carried by truck and lorry under its marine cargo policies. If something is damaged, photograph it before unloading and tell the owner and customer care straight away.
